DAMASCUS KEY RING FOBS
These key ring fobs were originally developed as a tool of self defense. It has been changed some to also make it a handy tool and to save your knife from being used as a pry bar and screwdriver. These have been heat treated to about a 56 Rc and ground to fit the small brass screws found in light switches and other small appliances. The corners have been rounded off to keep from ruining your pocket. Besides being pretty, they are very useful and is a good example of the steel used to make art knives. They are all high carbon and need the care that carbon steel knives also need. They should be waxed or a light coating of oil when stored. When carried daily, they require very little care. Don't leave them in your wet clothes or they can rust and cause discoloration.
These fobs are made with 52100 and 15N20, high carbon steels, in a various damascus patterns with 60 to 140 layers. After being forged to shape, they are heat treated to a 55 or 56 Rc. These are made from the raw materials to the finished product by me in my shop. I only make a batch every so often and check availability before sending payment.
