FIRESTEEL FIRE STARTERS
These fire steel fire starters have been attached to a small piece of stabilized wood or micarta using 326 Loctite glue and primer. This is an extremely high quality glue used for attaching scales on some knife handles and other applications where a premium glue is needed. This process eliminates broken firesteels and allows you to fully utilize the steels. No more broken steels when striking on it hard. They also have a 3/16" hole drilled in the backing to allow you to carry it on a chain, lace, or other cord to keep from loosing it and the striker.
The fire steel starters come in three sizes to suit the different needs of fire makers. The small size is adequate for most people and doesn't require much room for storage. It is .150" dia and 2" long. The medium size is 3/16" dia and is 2 1/2" long. The large firesteel is a full 1/4" dia and 3" long. This is my largest and will last for thousands of lights.
The fire striker is a heat treated piece of Alabama Damascus that has been heat treated and tempered slightly for maximum hardness. It has been shaped to make it easy to use and to produce a spark easily.
The elk lace is hand cut from a whole hide and is about the strongest leather lace for its size. I have used it for years for the thong on my neck knives and these have been cut wider than my neck knife thongs to be stronger.
